We know that no two buyers are alike, but now the 2021 data from the Association of Interior Realtors Buyer Survey backs us up! Here are some insights we wanted to share:
1. First-time buyers made up 17% of all home buyers, down from 25% in 2020.
2. Downsizers made up 12% of all home buyers, virtually unchanged from 2020.
3. Recreational properties made up 9% of all purchases, again, virtually unchanged from 2020.
4. 72% of buyers were married couples, 12% were single females, 12% were single males, and 3% were single parents.
5. 31% of all buyers had children under 18 living at home.
6. Over 50% of all home buyers moved from within the association’s region, with only 24% coming from the lower mainland and Vancouver Island, a change from 59% / 17% in 2020.
