– Testing smoke detectors monthly
– Installing carbon monoxide alarms on every floor
– Covering electrical outlets
– Repairing or replacing faulty wires
– Locking up chemicals, medications, and firearms
– Installing locks on sliding doors
– Covering sharp corners with guards or bumpers
– Securing heavy furniture to the wall
– Creating a family escape plan in case of emergency
